Baku: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). In his congratulatory letter, the head of state wished the Secretary-General every success in his responsible endeavors, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the importance Azerbaijan places on its cooperation with the OIC. He expressed satisfaction with the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and the organization.

President Aliyev also conveyed his confidence that under Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed's leadership, the OIC would effectively address its important tasks and further strengthen Islamic solidarity. He wished the new Secretary-General robust health, happiness, and success in his work for the prosperity of the Islamic world.
