President Ilham Aliyev Congratulates UK’s New PM Andy Burnham

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to Andy Burnham on his appointment as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the letter highlights the significance of Azerbaijan-United Kingdom relations, which are rooted in established traditions. President Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of economic and trade cooperation and noted the continuous enhancement of the strategic partnership, particularly in the energy sector.

The letter emphasizes the active involvement of British companies in Azerbaijan's major projects, both in oil and non-oil sectors. President Aliyev specifically mentioned the longstanding collaboration with bp in traditional and renewable energy spheres. He pointed out that British companies were among the first foreign firms invited to engage in Azerbaijan's reconstruction and development efforts following the liberation of its lands.

President Aliyev expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of friendly relations and partnership between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom, aligning with the interests of both nations.
