President Ilham Aliyev Discusses Urban Development with UN-Habitat Executive Director

Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held discussions with the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Anacl¡udia Rossbach, highlighting the significance of her participation in the 3rd Azerbaijan National Urban Forum in Khankendi.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Anacl¡udia Rossbach commended the organization of the forum, noting its focus on critical issues of urban development. Both parties acknowledged the success of previous national urban forums held in Azerbaijan under the Azerbaijan-UN-Habitat partnership.

The meeting emphasized the extensive restoration and reconstruction activities in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, implementing a modern urban development model in the liberated areas. Rossbach thanked Azerbaijan for its financial contributions to UN-Habitat and praised the country’s successful hosting of COP29, where climate and urbanization agendas were integrated.

Discussions also covered preparations for the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum, which Azerbaijan will host in 2026. Both parties expressed confidence in the country’s ability to host the event successfully, based on its track record with international gatherings.

The conversation concluded with discussions on future cooperation prospects between Azerbaijan and the UN-Habitat Program.
