Munich: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova in Munich.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting took place on February 14, where President Iotova reflected on her participation in the Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held in Azerbaijan. She expressed her admiration for Azerbaijan's culture, particularly the traditions of Novruz and the art of mugham, which left a significant impression on her.
President Iotova also appreciated the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's role in restoring the 'Trapezitsa' Architectural Museum-Reserve in Bulgaria. She conveyed her gratitude to President Aliyev for supporting Bulgarian cultural education in Azerbaijan, including the teaching of the Bulgarian language in higher education institutions.
The meeting highlighted the recent signing of the Agreement on Cooperation involving the Government of Azerbaijan, the Government of Bulgaria, and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, aimed at establishing and reconstructing the 'Shusha' Park in Veliko Tarnovo. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with this development.
Discussions during the meeting encompassed various areas of cooperation such as energy, electricity exports, agriculture, and tourism, along with collaboration within international organizations. Bulgaria's support for strengthening Azerbaijan-European Union relations was acknowledged positively.
Additionally, it was announced that Azerbaijan will host the World Urban Forum in May, with Bulgaria set to participate at a high level, demonstrating the continued partnership between the two nations.
