Washington: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, currently on a working visit to the United States at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, engaged in a strategic meeting with Elliot Brandt, Chief Executive Officer of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), along with other senior staff.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions fondly recalled the visit of the AIPAC delegation to Azerbaijan, where they had previously met with the head of state. Elliot Brandt highlighted the coexistence of various religions and cultures in Azerbaijan, appreciating the nation's example of peace and harmony. He expressed gratitude towards President Aliyev for the attention and care provided to the Jewish community in Azerbaijan.
President Aliyev emphasized the historical harmony among different religions in Azerbaijan, noting that tolerance has been an integral part of the country's way of life. Both parties acknowledged Azerbaijan's contributions to global dialogue among religions and cultures.
The conversation also included discussions on Azerbaijan-U.S. relations, particularly the enhanced ties following Donald Trump's presidency. They mentioned the successful visit of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Azerbaijan and the importance of the 'Charter on Strategic Partnership' signed between the two nations. This Charter outlines priority areas, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation, alongside traditional cooperation.
The role of AIPAC in strengthening Azerbaijan-U.S. and Azerbaijan-Israel relations was underscored. The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on future cooperation possibilities between Azerbaijan and AIPAC, as well as other mutual interests.
