Baku: President of the National Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev emphasized the impact of the Formula 1 event on Azerbaijan's tourism sector during an event focused on the 2025 sports results. "After the first Formula 1 race, the number of foreign tourists visiting our country increased by 20 percent," President Aliyev stated, noting the significant role the event plays in promoting Azerbaijan globally.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev explained that the growth in tourism continued until the onset of the COVID pandemic, which led to a decline. However, as tourism begins to recover, he expressed confidence that more international visitors will come to Azerbaijan in the coming year, particularly for international sports competitions. A notable aspect of this year's Formula 1 race was the advance sale of all tickets, reflecting the high interest in the event. Despite considerations to add more spectator stands, the city street setting of the race limits expansion possibilities. Nonetheless, President Aliyev mentioned that 20,000 spectators were able to witness the event live, and the global audience reached approximately half a billion people. He highlighted that the worldwide viewership not only experiences the race but also gets a glimpse of the city's beauty, serving as an effective showcase for Azerbaijan.
