President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Azerbaijan’s Commitment to International Civil Defense Cooperation

Baku: Azerbaijan is emphasizing its dedication to international cooperation in civil defense, as expressed by President Ilham Aliyev during his address at the 3rd extraordinary session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) in Baku. ‘We are pleased to host this high-level international event dedicated to issues of vital importance for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of people worldwide. The holding of this session in Azerbaijan is a clear example of our country’s commitment to global security, disaster risk reduction, and civil defense,’ President Aliyev stated.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan’s active participation in global initiatives aimed at safeguarding human life, the environment, and infrastructure. He highlighted the nation’s role as a responsible member of the international community, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies for civil defense.

The president also mentioned Azerbaijan’s hosting of major international events, such as COP29 last year and the upcoming World Urban Forum next year, which aim to address pressing global challenges, mitigate consequences, and foster global solidarity. These events reflect Azerbaijan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and dialogue on issues critical to global security and disaster risk management.
