President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Azerbaijan’s Role as Key EU Trading Partner in South Caucasus

Baku: Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has declared Azerbaijan as the European Union's primary trading partner within the South Caucasus region. President Aliyev made this statement during a press conference with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the significant opportunity to enhance the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union. He pointed out that there is substantial potential to elevate the current partnership to a higher level, benefiting both parties involved.

The President highlighted the importance of Azerbaijan's relationship with the European Commission, indicating that the discussions held with President von der Leyen and their respective delegations covered a comprehensive and wide-ranging agenda. He noted that the European Union represents Azerbaijan's main trading partner, accounting for over 40 percent of Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover. Additionally, he reiterated that Azerbaijan holds the position as the EU's principal trading partner in the South Caucasus region.
