President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Selective Attention of International Actors at Global Baku Forum

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev expressed concerns over the selective attention of certain international actors during the opening ceremony of the 13th Global Baku Forum. He emphasized the impact this selectiveness had on Azerbaijan, particularly during its prolonged conflict.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev remarked on Azerbaijan's recent period of peace, noting it has lasted for only seven months. He highlighted the importance of political will, courage, and commitment to achieving peace and justice. The President detailed the country's long struggle to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity, which took nearly 30 years. This was achieved in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, emphasizing the right to self-defense. Aliyev described the liberation of occupied territories by force and the attainment of peace through political means as a unique experience on a global scale.

President Aliyev further elaborated on the challenges faced by Azerbaijan, including the occupation of almost 20 percent of its territory and the ethnic cleansing of a million people. He criticized the lack of international attention and the selective intervention of international actors who were expected to address the conflict.
