Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The meeting took place on December 8.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the long history of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, underscoring the centuries-long coexistence of the two peoples. He expressed satisfaction with the recent intensification of bilateral relations, noting that the visit of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to Azerbaijan, along with reciprocal visits by other high-ranking officials, has contributed to the further expansion of cooperation between the two nations.
President Aliyev pointed out that the bilateral agenda is comprehensive, covering numerous areas with concrete roadmaps established for all issues. He highlighted the effective work of the intergovernmental commission, emphasizing cooperation in economic, trade, transport, energy, and other fields. He expressed confidence that the visit of the Iranian delegation would be successful and productive.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi conveyed the greetings of President Masoud Pezeshkian to President Aliyev and noted the respect the Iranian leader holds for Azerbaijan. He mentioned that President Pezeshkian, after being elected, had instructed his government to further strengthen relations with Azerbaijan. President Aliyev reciprocated by asking that his own greetings be conveyed to President Pezeshkian.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, reinforcing the deep-rooted nature of Azerbaijan-Iran relations and the importance of further deepening these ties.
