President Ilham Aliyev Inaugurates Flag Square in Shusha


SHUSHA — President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan inaugurated the newly reconstructed Flag Square in Shusha on September 19, marking another milestone in the city’s revitalization efforts. The square’s reconstruction, which began in May 2024, was designed by the Baku State Design Institute with input from Chapman Taylor, and the project spans 9,190 square meters, including 3,693 square meters of green spaces.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Special Representative of the President in the Shusha district, the centerpiece of the square is an 11.7-meter-high flagpole. Plans for further development in the area include the construction of a Victory Museum, a multifunctional concert and performance hall, and a shopping center, all part of Shusha’s Master Plan aimed at enhancing the city’s cultural and economic infrastructure.
