President Ilham Aliyev Inaugurates Mirror Sheet Production Plant in Sumgayit Industrial Park

Sumgayit: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the mirror sheet production plant of 'Azermirror' LLC in the Sumgayit Industrial Park. Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov provided an overview of the industrial zones established across the country and the activities of the Sumgayit Industrial Park.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 104 enterprises are currently operational in industrial zones nationwide, with over 7 billion manats invested, resulting in the creation of more than 11,000 permanent jobs. Future investments amounting to nearly 1.74 billion manats are planned under ongoing projects. Since their inception, industrial zones have produced goods worth a total of 19.4 billion manats, with 6.1 billion manats of products exported to 70 countries worldwide.

The establishment of industrial parks and districts supports a successful industrialization policy aimed at diversifying the economy and developing the non-oil sector. These zones are instrumental in enhancing innovation, production efficiency, high-tech manufacturing, export potential, and employment. Azerbaijan hosts eight industrial parks, including the Sumgayit Industrial Park, with additional efforts to establish the Nakhchivan Industrial Park and the Western Industrial Park in Ganja city and Shamkir district. Industrial districts in Masalli, Neftchala, Sabirabad, and Sharur also contribute to production and entrepreneurship.

The Sumgayit Industrial Park spans 640 hectares and accommodates 40 resident enterprises. The projects within the park are valued at 6.7 billion manats, with 5.5 billion manats in actual investments, creating approximately 8,800 jobs. The sales volume of resident enterprises has reached 15.4 billion manats, including 5.7 billion manats in exports.

Rustam Abbasov, founder of 'Azermirror' LLC, briefed President Aliyev about the enterprise. The company, which gained resident status in 2023, operates on a one-hectare plot, providing permanent employment for 30 people and producing 900,000 square meters of mirror sheets annually. The project, valued at 6.13 million manats, is based on Chinese technology and received a preferential loan of 1.5 million manats from the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund. 'Azermirror' LLC also benefits from tax and customs exemptions totaling 600,000 manats, in line with incentives for industrial park residents.

The focus on developing the non-oil industry remains a priority under President Aliyev's leadership, emphasizing resource utilization, innovative approaches, advanced technologies, new industrial sectors, and competitive production expansion.
