President Ilham Aliyev Initiates Construction of New Settlement in Kalbajar District

KALBAJAR — On September 2, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan laid the foundation stone for the Istisu settlement in the Kalbajar district, signaling the commencement of a significant residential project in the region.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev was briefed on the development plans for Istisu, which is situated in the western part of the Kalbajar district. The new settlement will cover a total area of 63.1 hectares and is to be developed in phases. The initial phase will see the construction of 159 individual houses on 39.2 hectares of land, catering to families with various housing needs, ranging from two to five-room configurations.

The comprehensive master plan for Istisu includes not only residential homes but also 71 townhouse-style homes, 10 apartment buildings with a total of 180 apartments, and a range of community facilities. These facilities include a school for 352 students, a 100-seat kindergarten, an administrative building, a community center, a sports and health center, a medical facility, and other essential infrastructure designed to support both new and returning residents.
