Dashbulag: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited a 13-hectare mulberry orchard in Dashbulag village, Khojaly district.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the orchard, which features 130,000 mulberry saplings imported from China, is equipped with a drip irrigation system.

The orchard’s mulberry leaf production is projected to reach 100 tons by 2026 and is expected to increase to 500 tons by 2030. Cocoon production is forecast to reach 60 tons over the next five years, starting from 2026. Plans for October-November include installing a drip irrigation system on an additional 150 hectares, planting about 1.5 million mulberry saplings, establishing a mulberry orchard based on a cluster model, constructing silkworm breeding facilities, and producing and processing fresh cocoons.

This project has created permanent employment for 25 people and is expected to engage an additional 750 individuals in seasonal work.
