Baku: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan visited the Baku Olympic Stadium to review ongoing preparations for the upcoming COP29 conference, a key global summit on climate change. According to Trend News Agency, Assistant to the President Anar Alakbarov provided a briefing on the current progress at the venue. The construction and installation work is almost complete, and the site is expected to be handed over to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on schedule. This rapid advancement underscores the commitment of Azerbaijan to successfully hosting the international event. During his visit, President Aliyev received updates on various aspects of the preparation, including the organization of the World Leaders' Climate Action Summit, which is set to occur in the early days of the conference. He reviewed the infrastructure and facilities being established, focusing on the integration of green energy sources to meet the venue's energy needs and the implementation of advanced information tech nology and security measures. The President also inspected the ongoing preparations in the COP29 Green Zone and visited the Media Center, which is being prepared to support the work of a significant number of accredited media representatives from prestigious global organizations. President Aliyev issued directives to ensure the continuity and quality of the preparations, highlighting the importance of the upcoming conference in addressing global climate challenges.
