President Ilham Aliyev Inspects Reconstruction Progress in Khanabad Village of Khojaly District

Khanabad: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, along with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughter Arzu Aliyeva, visited the village of Khanabad in the Khojaly district to assess the ongoing reconstruction efforts.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President for the city of Khankendi and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, provided an update on the reconstruction projects in the village. Khanabad was liberated after Azerbaijani Armed Forces' operations in September 2023 and holds historical significance with landmarks such as a 13th-century church and the 9th-century "Aslan Galasi" monument.

The village, consisting of 276 houses, had 115 deemed uninhabitable and 161 partially fit for residence. So far, 120 houses have been renovated, with 41 more expected by year-end. Recently, 38 families have returned.

Infrastructure improvements include the restoration of transformer stations, gas and power lines, and the installation of new utility cables. Water supply enhancements include repairs to wells and reservoirs, with a new pumping station in Asgaran. Roads have been restored and a new park has been established.

A 'Khanabad' composition now marks the village entrance, with a new overpass and the National Flag raised. President Aliyev and his family also visited Amrah Sahibli's home to engage with returned residents.
