Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Zhang Guoqing, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, marking a significant moment in Azerbaijan-China relations. The meeting, reported by APA, took place on May 18, consolidating the growing ties between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Zhang Guoqing conveyed President Xi Jinping's greetings, highlighting the friendship between the Chinese and Azerbaijani leaders. President Aliyev reciprocated with his greetings and acknowledged the importance of the relationship, appreciating President Xi Jinping's view of him as a friend of China.

Discussions included the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), where Zhang Guoqing participated, underscoring China's commitment to the global urbanization agenda and congratulating Azerbaijan for hosting the prestigious event. President Aliyev expressed gratitude for China's high-level representation at the Forum, viewing it as a symbol of respect and friendship.

The Vice Premier highlighted the rapid growth of bilateral relations, citing the comprehensive strategic partnership achieved under the leadership of both countries. He reiterated China's appreciation for Azerbaijan's stance on China's Taiwan province and its support for Azerbaijan's sovereignty.

President Aliyev fondly recalled his visit to China and the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership document, emphasizing Azerbaijan's support for the 'One China' policy and condemnation of separatism.
