President Ilham Aliyev Meets Iranian Roads and Urban Development Minister to Discuss Bilateral Projects

Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Farzaneh Sadegh, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The meeting marked a significant step in the ongoing economic cooperation between the two countries, with Sadegh also serving as the Co-Chair of the Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting included a reflection on Sadegh's previous visit to Azerbaijan and her meeting with President Aliyev. Furthermore, President Aliyev referred to a recent telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which they discussed the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran.

President Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the expanding bilateral agenda and highlighted the potential of joint projects to benefit both countries and the region. He expressed hope that Sadegh's visit would foster discussions leading to positive outcomes.

During the meeting, Sadegh expressed her pleasure in returning to Azerbaijan and conveyed President Pezeshkian's greetings to President Aliyev, highlighting the importance the Iranian President places on relations with Azerbaijan. President Aliyev reciprocated by sending his greetings to President Pezeshkian.

The discussions also touched upon the historical, religious, and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Iran. Both parties underscored the importance of the upcoming 17th meeting of the State Commission on Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation in Baku. Key topics included the North-South Transport Corridor and the construction of a highway bridge over the Araz River, which connects the Aghband and Kelaleh areas, among other issues of mutual interest.
