Shusha: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev recently hosted Sel§uk Bayraktaroglu, Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, in Shusha. The meeting took place on September 15, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Sel§uk Bayraktaroglu expressed his gratitude for the reception and conveyed greetings from President of the Republic of Trkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to President Aliyev. In response, President Aliyev expressed his thanks for the greetings and requested that his own regards be passed on to President Erdogan.

The discussions underscored the strong brotherhood and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Trkiye, which are developing across various sectors, including the military. President Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan and Trkiye share a unique closeness and that this unity is of global significance. He also highlighted the beginning of a peace period in the region.

The meeting emphasized the significance of the Declaration on Allied Relations between Azerbaijan and Trkiye, signed in 2021 in Shusha. Both leaders noted with satisfaction that the meeting coincided with the 107th anniversary of the liberation of Baku from Dashnak-Bolshevik occupation by the Caucasus Islamic Army.

The leaders also explored further development of cooperation between the military institutions of Azerbaijan and Trkiye, building on their brotherhood and strategic alliance.
