Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 18. The head of state expressed his gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for participating in the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), noting that the presence of the President of Uzbekistan in Baku reflects the fraternal and friendly relations between the two countries and peoples.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev recalled his previous meetings with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, highlighting that the projects discussed during those meetings are now being implemented. He also mentioned the construction of the Uzbekistan Park in Baku. President Mirziyoyev congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on hosting the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum in Baku and emphasized the event's significance in discussing global urban planning issues.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed admiration for Azerbaijan's ongoing development, particularly in building new cities and villages in Garabagh, describing these as achievements under President Aliyev's leadership. He recognized the successes achieved by Azerbaijan, including the Victory in the Patriotic War, attributing them to President Aliyev's efforts and dedication to the nation.
President Aliyev thanked President Mirziyoyev for his kind words and emphasized the support shown by Uzbekistan in the restoration of Garabagh. The construction of secondary school No. 1 named after Mirzo Ulugbek in Fuzuli by Uzbekistan was noted as a symbol of brotherhood and solidarity.
The meeting also revisited previous visits and meetings between the two presidents. Instructions from the heads of state led to reviews of ongoing economic projects between the countries, with satisfaction expressed over their implementation. Projects in sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, mechanical engineering, and pharmaceuticals were discussed. Both leaders emphasized the strategic alliance nature of their relations and celebrated the successful cooperation across various spheres.
