President Ilham Aliyev Outlines Strategic Vision for Azerbaijan’s Digital Future

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev presided over a critical meeting focused on the unified action plan for 'Azerbaijan's New Digital Architecture,' emphasizing the necessity of digitalization in shaping the nation's future development.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the importance of digital development as a strategic priority. He underscored the role of artificial intelligence, data centers, and digital reforms in determining Azerbaijan's long-term growth. The President noted that Azerbaijan's extensive experience in oil, gas, and international collaborations positions the country well for advancing its digital infrastructure. He emphasized the need to transform traditional transport and energy corridors into fiber-optic pathways to meet modern requirements.

President Aliyev pointed out Azerbaijan's favorable investment environment, with over $350 billion invested in the economy over the past two decades. He underscored the protection of foreign and local investments as essential for development. Additionally, Azerbaijan's increased energy generation capacity, now at 10,000 megawatts, provides a solid foundation for digital initiatives. The President highlighted Azerbaijan's unique position in the region, being self-sufficient in energy and exporting to global markets.

The President emphasized Azerbaijan's strategic partnerships with global powers, including the United States and China, as well as European Union member states. These alliances, he noted, offer significant advantages in digitalization and artificial intelligence endeavors. He called for a coordinated approach among state agencies and proposed appointing dedicated deputies for digitalization, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

President Aliyev also stressed the importance of consolidating public services through a centralized platform, 'mygov,' to enhance accessibility for citizens. He highlighted the need for personnel training in digital fields and the integration of artificial intelligence in state institutions. The President acknowledged the importance of cybersecurity and the existing Cybersecurity Center's role in safeguarding against cyber threats.
