Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Clare Brosnan, the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ireland to Azerbaijan, on July 17. The ambassador presented her credentials to the head of state, marking the commencement of her diplomatic mission in Baku.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev engaged in a conversation with Ambassador Brosnan, emphasizing the importance of expanding bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Ireland. He highlighted several potential areas for cooperation, suggesting that partnership should extend beyond the political sphere to include investments and other high-potential sectors.

Ambassador Brosnan expressed her gratitude and honor at being in Baku, noting the city's unique beauty and its harmonious blend of historic and modern architecture. She described Azerbaijan as a beautiful country and extended congratulations to President Aliyev on the progress made concerning the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Highlighting Ireland's current Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Ambassador Brosnan conveyed strong support for the ongoing development of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU. She also mentioned that Ireland will be hosting the upcoming Summit of the European Political Community.

Recalling her participation in COP29, Brosnan noted that the event, successfully hosted by Azerbaijan, yielded positive outcomes. In response, President Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan's key initiatives to support the global green agenda within the COP29 framework, mentioning the projects implemented by the country in this direction.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ireland in the fields of education and high technologies.
