Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Saif bin Rashid bin Saif Aljahwari, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to Azerbaijan, on July 17. The ambassador presented his credentials to President Aliyev, marking the official start of his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and Oman. He highlighted the fruitful cooperation that exists in many areas, including within international organizations, and noted the strong potential for further strengthening the bilateral partnership. President Aliyev wished the ambassador success in his role and expressed confidence that he would contribute significantly to deepening cooperation across various areas of the bilateral agenda.
Ambassador Saif bin Rashid bin Saif Aljahwari conveyed the greetings of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to President Aliyev and expressed his satisfaction with his appointment. He relayed the Sultan's wishes for good health for President Aliyev and continued prosperity for Azerbaijan. President Aliyev thanked the ambassador for the greetings and asked him to convey his own greetings to the Sultan of Oman.
The ambassador also emphasized the importance of this year's 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Oman. He recalled Leyla Aliyeva's visit to Oman earlier this year, highlighting the significance of the meetings and discussions held during the visit, which he noted had contributed meaningfully to the further development of bilateral relations.
During their conversation, the two sides discussed cooperation in the tourism sector, noted the establishment of a joint investment fund, and exchanged views on prospects for increasing its financial capacity in the future.
