President Ilham Aliyev Receives Iranian Defense Delegation to Discuss Bilateral Relations

Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran led by Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics Aziz Nasirzadeh.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting was an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and address regional issues.

The head of state reflected on a recent telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasizing that ongoing high-level interactions offer significant opportunities to address the bilateral agenda. President Aliyev highlighted the success of President Pezeshkian's official visit to Azerbaijan last year, which has led to further development in relations between the two nations.

President Aliyev pointed out that while wars and conflicts persist globally, Azerbaijan has successfully established peace in the South Caucasus. He conveyed that this stability is crucial for neighboring Iran and reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to promoting peace worldwide. The President expressed concerns over the current regional situation and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's readiness to contribute to de-escalation efforts.

Aziz Nasirzadeh, expressing gratitude for the reception, conveyed greetings from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He noted the Iranian President's fondness for Azerbaijan and recalled his visits to the country, including to Khankendi. President Aliyev reciprocated the greetings and emphasized the strong bilateral relationship based on friendship and good-neighborliness.

During the discussions, both parties acknowledged the positive trajectory of Azerbaijan-Iran relations and explored prospects for defense cooperation, reinforcing the principles of mutual respect and regional stability.
