Baku: Ramiz Anvar oglu Mehdiyev has been relieved of his duties as a member of the Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree formalizing this decision.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ramiz Mehdiyev was originally appointed to the Security Council by a presidential decree dated October 23, 2019. Recent developments have seen Mehdiyev facing serious legal challenges, as he is currently accused under several articles of the Criminal Code. The charges include acts aimed at seizing state power, treason, and the legalization of property obtained by criminal means.

The Sabail District Court of Baku recently addressed the criminal case against Mehdiyev. On October 14, the court granted a motion regarding Mehdiyev, ordering a preventive measure of house arrest for a period of four months due to the particularly serious nature of the charges he faces.
