Aghdam:President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inspected the facilities at the Aghdam Olive Enterprise. During his visit, he was briefed by Ruslan Sadikhov, Director of Agroinkishaf 2017 LLC, about the operations of the enterprise.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, following the clearance of mines and unexploded ordnance from areas in Aghdam liberated from occupation, the company began land preparation and leveling in December 2020 and promptly launched planting activities. The enterprise initially cultivated grain in the area, achieving yields of 40 centners per hectare. An olive orchard now spans 1,150 hectares, with over 700,000 trees planted. Future plans include increasing the number of olive and almond trees to 1.5 million.
The company aims to produce 10,000 tonnes of olives or 2,000 tonnes of olive oil annually using modern agricultural machinery. As part of the project, temporary irrigation canals have been constructed, and the 3,690-meter Eyvazkhanbayli-Khachinchay road has been repaired. Additionally, administrative and technical facilities have been established, a 10-hectare forest plantation created, and a further 50 hectares planned. The site also includes a fuel station and a weather station.
President Aliyev was briefed on Azerbaijan's walnut production industry. Since 2017, Agroinkishaf 2017 LLC has been establishing orchards covering more than 2,000 hectares in the Shaki and Oghuz districts, cultivating modern, high-density walnut varieties. This initiative aims to reduce walnut imports and foster an export-oriented walnut industry.
In 2022, President Aliyev laid the foundation stone for a walnut processing plant in the Oghuz district. The facility, equipped with both washing and processing equipment, has an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes of walnuts, which are primarily sold domestically and exported to countries such as Turkey, Georgia, Russia, and Italy. Intensive almond orchards are also being developed across nearly 1,000 hectares.
Modern agricultural equipment supports the enterprise, including a drip irrigation system, weather stations, and a phytosanitary laboratory. President Aliyev was also briefed on the Ajinohur Olive Valley project's progress and participated in planting an olive tree on the enterprise's grounds.
