President Ilham Aliyev Stresses Unhindered Passage from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has reiterated the necessity for Armenia to ensure unimpeded passage from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan. During a gathering focused on transportation matters, he underscored the importance of smooth and unrestricted transit without inspections or barriers. “Both on the international stage and in bilateral contacts with Armenia, we consistently emphasize one point: there must be unhindered passage from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan. There must be smooth and unrestricted passage from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan, without any inspections or obstacles. This is our demand,” Aliyev stated, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Aliyev recalled the historical context of Western Zangezur, highlighting that it was taken from Azerbaijan by the Soviet regime in 1920, an act he described as a crime against the Azerbaijani people. Despite this, he clarified that Azerbaijan does not harbor territorial claims against Armenia but insists that Armenia fulfill its obligations and allow free passage. “We have not forgotten Zangezur, and we will not forget it. I repeat, we have no territorial claims against Armenia. However, Armenia must fulfill its obligations and provide unrestricted passage from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan,” Aliyev emphasized.

This statement comes amidst ongoing discussions and negotiations regarding transportation routes and regional connectivity, highlighting the significance Azerbaijan places on this issue.
