Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Dirk L¶lke, the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan. During the meeting, the ambassador presented his credentials to President Aliyev, and a conversation followed between the two dignitaries.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev fondly recalled his recent official visit to Germany, where he engaged in discussions on bilateral relations and international issues with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The President highlighted that both nations share common positions on regional stability, security, and development. He mentioned that new potential cooperation areas were identified, enhancing mutual understanding and the bilateral partnership. The 'Joint Declaration on a Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany,' signed in Berlin, was noted as a significant step in elevating bilateral ties.
President Aliyev emphasized the ongoing strategic interaction between the two countries in various areas, including trade, investment, and business, which continue to strengthen bilateral ties. He pointed out that Ambassador L¶lke's diplomatic mission began after his visit to Germany, underscoring its importance for future bilateral relations. The President expressed his good wishes for the ambassador's success in his diplomatic endeavors.
Ambassador L¶lke expressed his gratitude for the reception and congratulated President Aliyev on the first anniversary of the Summit between Azerbaijan and Armenia held in Washington. President Aliyev reiterated Azerbaijan's role in initiating the regional peace agenda, affirming that peace in the region is now irreversible.
The ambassador conveyed the German government's satisfaction with the outcomes of President Aliyev's visit and expressed hope for the prompt implementation of the discussed issues. The meeting also highlighted the positive dynamics in Azerbaijan-EU relations and discussed opportunities for German companies in the East-West Transport Corridor, as well as cooperation in traditional and renewable energy and education.
