President Ilham Aliyev Welcomes New Rwandan Ambassador to Azerbaijan.


BAKU: President Ilham Aliyev welcomed Charles Kayonga, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda, as he presented his credentials on October 31. The meeting marked the beginning of Ambassador Kayonga’s diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan, where discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the importance of identifying opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. He expressed optimism about future collaboration within international organizations like the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement. President Aliyev also highlighted the upcoming participation of Rwanda’s President at COP29, underscoring the importance of global dialogue on climate change and Azerbaijan’s commitment to this cause.

During the meeting, Ambassador Kayonga conveyed greetings from Rwandan President Paul Kagame, stating President Kagame’s eagerness to attend COP29 and his commitment to strengthening ties w
ith Azerbaijan. Despite the geographical distance, both nations see potential for significant cooperation. In response, President Aliyev extended his regards to President Kagame and appreciated the ambassador’s dedication to fostering bilateral relations.

The discussions also covered potential collaborations in areas such as economy, trade, humanitarian efforts, science, and education, with both leaders expressing a shared commitment to expanding these ties.
