Lachin: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with residents relocated to the village of Beylik in the Lachin district and presented them with the keys to their new homes, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev greeted the residents warmly, congratulating them on their return to their homeland, as well as the restoration of the village. The meeting coincided with the eve of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, adding significance to the event. The President expressed confidence that the relocated residents would find happiness in their native land.

The government has made efforts to provide favorable living conditions, including homes, roads, and essential utilities such as electricity, natural gas, and water. President Aliyev highlighted the massive reconstruction efforts in territories that experienced Armenian occupation and vandalism, including Beylik, which has been transformed into a beautiful settlement.

Large-scale restoration work is ongoing across the liberated territories, with 40,000 to 43,000 people already living, working, and studying there. The President reflected on the Second Karabakh War, noting that the majority of the Lachin district was liberated without conflict after Armenia’s surrender, allowing Azerbaijani citizens to return to their lands.

President Aliyev acknowledged the dual significance of May as both a celebratory and historically tragic month for Lachin. He recounted the occupation of Lachin in May, following the capture of Shusha, which had severe consequences for Azerbaijan. However, he emphasized that the dark days were over, and May would now be a month of celebration.

The President also remarked on past political turmoil in Azerbaijan, citing the power struggle and treason by the Popular Front-Musavat tandem during the occupation. He assured residents that those dark times were over, and Azerbaijan had regained sovereignty over its territories.

In conclusion, President Aliyev expressed gratitude to the residents and highlighted new holidays commemorating Azerbaijan’s victories and liberation efforts. The key presentation ceremony followed, signifying a new chapter for the residents of Beylik.
