Moscow: Russian media outlets have widely covered Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's state visit to Uzbekistan, highlighting the talks between the two leaders, the signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship, the expansion of economic, trade, and transport cooperation, as well as new joint projects between Baku and Tashkent.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the reports published by the TASS news agency emphasized the importance of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship signed by Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The heads of state also signed a program to increase mutual trade turnover to $1 billion, alongside agreements on tourism and cultural cooperation.
Interfax news agency highlighted the outcomes of the negotiations and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The agency reported that the sides intend to further deepen strategic partnership and allied relations, expand industrial cooperation, and fully utilize the capabilities of the joint investment company.
The Russian publication "Vedomosti" noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have reached a high level, with a threefold increase in mutual trade over the past five years. The article also mentioned joint projects in the fields of energy, chemical and mining industries, textiles, agriculture, and urban development, as well as plans to increase trade turnover between the two countries to $1 billion.
Several publications posted articles on President Ilham Aliyev's remarks on the development of transport routes, particularly citing efforts to create the Zangezur Corridor in the territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as prospects for implementing the TRIPP project in the territory of Armenia.
The Russian media outlets also highlighted the special role of Uzbekistan in implementing projects in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev noted that Uzbekistan was the first country to support the restoration of Garabagh, build a 960-seat secondary school, and invest in establishing a large garment production facility.
