Abu dhabi: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The meeting focused on the progress made in implementing the outcomes of the Washington Peace Summit, which was hosted by President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining the positive momentum in advancing the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan on a bilateral basis.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, both Aliyev and Pashinyan acknowledged the tangible benefits of peace being experienced by both societies. They expressed satisfaction with the start of bilateral trade, specifically the export of oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia and the transit of grain and other goods through Azerbaijan to Armenia. The leaders agreed to explore further opportunities to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The meeting also covered the significance of reciprocal visits by civil society representatives, with both leaders concurring on the need to broaden confidence-building measures. Discussions included the implementation of TRIPP and other connectivity projects, which are aimed at enhancing regional cooperation.
President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan reiterated their commitment to strengthening peace and stability between their countries. They agreed to maintain regular contacts to support the ongoing bilateral normalization process.
