President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev Holds Talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister

Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission, on March 2. During their meeting, the Russian side expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its assistance in evacuating Russian citizens from Iran amid a tense regional situation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting involved a broad exchange of views on Azerbaijan-Russia relations. It was highlighted that following agreements made during a meeting between Azerbaijani and Russian leaders in Dushanbe on October 9, 2025, both sides will take steps to address issues from the AZAL aircraft crash on December 25, 2024.

Further discussions included plans to enhance cooperation in sectors such as economy, trade, investment, industry, and transport logistics. The two nations also explored prospects for improving regional transport connectivity and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the International North-South Transport Corridor.

Humanitarian issues were also part of the dialogue. The meeting unfolded in the customary atmosphere of friendship and constructiveness that characterizes Azerbaijan-Russia interstate relations.
