Baku: 'In the context of Azerbaijan-US relations, 2025 can also be considered a historic year,' President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated during an interview with local television channels on January 5.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev discussed the significance of the removal of the Section 907 amendment, which had previously hindered the development of broad-scale relations between the United States and Azerbaijan. He attributed the removal of this restriction to two main factors: the official end of the Armenia-Azerbaijan war and the presence of the Trump administration in power. President Aliyev praised the current US administration for its pragmatic approach and understanding of America's national interests.

President Aliyev also noted the symbolic importance of President Donald Trump signing the waiver of Section 907 at a White House ceremony, which President Aliyev personally attended. This act marked a significant step forward in the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, setting the stage for a potentially transformative year in 2025.
