Baku: 'There must be a railway that can also connect Nakhchivan with Trkiye, and all these projects, of course, should be carried out in a coordinated fashion,' President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated during an interview with local television channels. The interview, reported by APA, took place on January 5.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the potential for rapid implementation of infrastructure projects within Azerbaijan. He noted that there are no longer any issues concerning the Zangezur Corridor within the country's borders. The President highlighted a significant development: the construction of a bridge over the Araz in the Aghband settlement, initiated by Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev explained that the current route from the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan involves a lengthy journey from Bilasuvar. The new infrastructure will reduce the distance to just 45-50 kilometers through Iran. This development will establish two routes connecting the main part of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan: one through Armenia and another through Iran. The President stated that this will effectively integrate Nakhchivan, East Zangezur, and Garabagh into a single region.
