Baku: Aziz Alakbarli, Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community and Member of Parliament of the Milli Majlis, recently met with Marija Pujo Tadic, President of the International Institute for Climate Action (IICA), during her visit to Azerbaijan. The meeting was held in conjunction with the 3rd International Conference organized by the Community, focusing on the theme ‘Cultural Heritage and the Right to Return: Restoration of the Cultural Heritage of Azerbaijanis Displaced from Armenia – As a Path to Justice, Reconciliation and Peace.’

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Alakbarli discussed the objectives of the conference and expressed his gratitude to Tadic for her attendance. He emphasized Azerbaijan’s ongoing international initiatives regarding Western Azerbaijan, highlighting previous successful events held in Brussels, Germany, and Spain.

During the meeting, Alakbarli provided Tadic with an overview of the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis from Armenia and the destruction of their cultural heritage. He presented a publication that documents the vandalism of Azerbaijani cemeteries in Armenia, as part of his briefing.

In response, Marija Pujo Tadic was informed about various international support mechanisms, including the recognition of 11 documents from the Western Azerbaijan Community as official UN documents over the past two years. She commended the strong partnership between Azerbaijan and the International Institute for Climate Action and expressed her admiration for Azerbaijan’s advancements, particularly in the Garabagh region.
