Shamkir: Natiq Amirov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, addressed a regional meeting in Shamkir concerning the State Program for the Development of Production and Processing Sectors of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Products for 2026-2030. During his speech, he acknowledged President Ilham Aliyev's dissatisfaction with the stagnation in the country's agricultural sector despite significant development efforts.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Amirov highlighted that a new comprehensive State Program has been prepared based on instructions from the President, aiming to revitalize the agricultural sector with a strategic development model. This program outlines a roadmap to enhance agricultural production, efficiently utilize resources, and expand export opportunities, alongside progressing fisheries and aquaculture.

The State Program targets sustainable agricultural development from 2026 to 2030, focusing on strengthening food security, boosting domestic production capacity, and transitioning to a competitive production model. It also emphasizes developing value chains, providing modern agricultural services to farmers, and advancing fisheries and aquaculture.

Amirov concluded the meeting by discussing future tasks and steps needed for the successful implementation of the State Program. He emphasized specific targets, including modern irrigation systems, increased wheat and cotton yields, expanded intensive orchards, improved livestock breeding, and boosted aquaculture production, demonstrating the program's focus on high productivity and value addition.
