Baku: More than 24,000 vehicles have been cleared through customs since the start of the year, as reported by the State Customs Committee (SCC). The volume of alcoholic beverages subject to excise tax reached 4,440,750.03 liters, while energy drinks accounted for 3,499,860.72 liters during the reporting period, according to Orkhan Sultanov of the Main Customs Department for Excisable Goods.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the SCC statistics indicated that 24,783 passenger vehicles have undergone customs clearance this year. Of these vehicles, 14,960 were powered by gasoline, 6,815 were hybrids, 2,526 operated on diesel, and 482 were fully electric. There is a noted increase in the clearance of environmentally cleaner hybrid and electric vehicles.

Additionally, the report highlighted that 2,641 trucks, 1,960 other specialized vehicles, 723 truck tractors, and 590 trailers were imported and subjected to excise tax. Sultanov mentioned that the Main Customs Department for Excisable Goods received 576 applications from citizens and business entities between January and May. The highest volume of applications was in January with 198 submissions, followed by 129 in February, 78 in March, 94 in April, and 77 in May.
