Baku: Presidents and First Ladies of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan visited the Poi-Kalyan Complex in Bukhara on August 24. The delegation included President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, First Lady Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva, and their family members.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Poi-Kalyan Complex is renowned for its historical significance. The name translates to 'the pedestal of the Great,' reflecting its importance. One of the complex's main attractions, the Kalyan Minaret, dates back to 1127. This architectural marvel stands as a testament to the region's rich history.

The Kalyan Mosque, another key feature of the complex, is the largest mosque in Bukhara. Built in the 16th century, it can accommodate up to 12,000 worshippers simultaneously. This makes it a significant place of worship and a central part of the complex.

The complex also houses the Mir-i Arab Madrasah, a religious educational institution built in the 16th century by Abdullah Yamani, who is also known as Mir-i Arab. This institution continues to play a vital role in religious education in the region.
