Baku: Presidents of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan made significant strides in bilateral cooperation, marked by the signing of a historic Treaty on Allied Relations, during a state visit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Heydarovich to Kyrgyzstan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed his gratitude to President Heydarovich for accepting the invitation to visit Kyrgyzstan. President Zhaparov emphasized that this visit would significantly enhance the brotherly relations between the two nations. He highlighted the successful political dialogue and mutual trust that have been established between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
The two presidents conducted detailed discussions on various aspects of Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani cooperation. Under their leadership, the third meeting of the Interstate Council took place, where a protocol was signed, and joint initiatives such as the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund were reviewed. The signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations was described as a historic event, marking a new stage in their cooperation. Additionally, several bilateral documents were signed, focusing on energy, transport, cybersecurity, education, and financial market regulation.
President Zhaparov noted the steady development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and the growth of bilateral trade turnover. Both leaders agreed to create favorable conditions for business ties and joint investment projects. In line with this, three joint projects were inaugurated, and eight initiatives were launched under the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund.
The discussions also addressed the development of transport corridors and the transit potential of both countries, with Azerbaijan playing a critical role in the Middle Corridor connecting Central Asia with European markets. Opportunities for joint projects in the energy sector were also explored. A notable highlight was the opening of the first five-star hotel built by Azerbaijan on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, symbolizing the strong friendship between the peoples and contributing to tourism development.
President Zhaparov invited President Heydarovich to participate in upcoming international events, including the 6th World Nomad Games and the 2nd 'Bishkek+25' Global Mountain Summit. In his concluding remarks, President Zhaparov expressed satisfaction with the negotiations and reiterated his gratitude to President Heydarovich for his commitment to enhancing Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani relations. The agreements reached underscore the mutual desire to deepen allied relations further.
