Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Discuss Bilateral Relations

Turkmenbashi:President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Turkmenbashi on October 8.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the leaders fondly recalled previous visits between their countries, including those involving the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Azerbaijan. These visits were highlighted as significant in enhancing bilateral relations, with five high-level visits since last year underscoring the active political dialogue and engagement between the two nations.

During their meeting, the presidents praised the growing friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, discussing the expansion of cooperation across various sectors including political, economic, transport, transit, logistics, cultural, and humanitarian fields. They also addressed issues related to the Caspian Sea and collaboration within international organizations.

The discussion emphasized the significance of the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Central Asia. This meeting was noted for its role in strengthening partnerships between Azerbaijan and regional states, expanding regional cooperation, and addressing mutual interests.

President Aliyev expressed appreciation for the excellent organization of the event and recalled Azerbaijan's accession to the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia as a full-fledged participant the previous November. He conveyed gratitude for the unanimous support for this initiative, which was proposed by Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The exchange also included discussions on prospects for future bilateral cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
