Press Council Condemns Threatening Statements Against Azerbaijan in Russian Media

Baku: Certain Russian media outlets are disseminating inappropriate, threatening, and insulting statements directed against the Azerbaijani state, people, country's leadership, and prominent figures. The Press Council of Azerbaijan has issued a statement in this regard.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the statement emphasized that such behavior is entirely contrary to the principles of civil journalism, ethical standards, and human values. The occurrence of these statements has been persistently observed across Russian media platforms, causing concern in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijan Press Council views these actions as detrimental to the spirit of bilateral relations and media cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia. It highlighted that Azerbaijani media has consistently demonstrated sensitivity towards issues concerning neighboring countries, including Russia, by strictly adhering to professional journalism standards.

The Council expressed deep disappointment and justified dissatisfaction among the Azerbaijani public due to these regrettable incidents within the Russian media space. The Azerbaijan Press Council strongly condemns these cases and urges the Russian media community and society to take decisive measures against attempts to undermine Azerbaijani-Russian media cooperation and the friendship between the two nations.

The Press Council reiterated that insulting opinions and threatening claims targeting the Azerbaijani state, its people, and prominent figures are unacceptable. It concluded by reminding those responsible for such statements that they bear legal responsibility for their actions.
