Islamabad: Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has extended his congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan in a letter commemorating the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory in the 44-Day Patriotic War.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter highlights the significance of this historic day, emphasizing Azerbaijan’s perseverance in defending its sovereignty and reclaiming its ancestral lands, notably the city of Shusha. The Prime Minister praised President Aliyev’s leadership in securing an agreement with Armenia, which has paved the way for a peaceful and prosperous future in the Caucasus region.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed his anticipation for attending the Victory Day celebrations in Baku on November 8, 2025. He sees this occasion as an opportunity to further strengthen Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations, particularly following the successful discussions during his visit to Khankendi for the 17th ECO Summit in July 2025.
The letter also mentions the forthcoming visit of President Aliyev to Pakistan, with both nations working towards launching several collaborative initiatives. Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to a strategic and economic partnership with Azerbaijan, aiming for mutual benefits for both countries.
