Baku: The prizes for the winners of the upcoming full marathon, set for May 3 in Azerbaijan, have been announced. The marathon, an annual event organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will be held as a full marathon for the first time this year instead of a half-marathon.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the top three male and female finishers who complete the 42-kilometer distance will receive certificates and cash prizes. The first-place winners will be awarded 6,000 AZN, while those finishing in second place will receive 4,000 AZN, and third-place finishers will get 2,000 AZN. Additionally, all participants who complete the full marathon distance will be awarded medals for their achievement.
For those participating in shorter distances, incentives have also been planned. Competitors unable to complete the full marathon but who participate in the 21 km half-marathon will receive medals if they are among the first 2,000 finishers. Participants completing the 10 km distance will be awarded certificates as recognition of their efforts.
Registration for the marathon is open until April 25, providing ample opportunity for interested runners to participate in this significant event.
