Baku: A criminal case has been initiated under Article 162.3 of the Criminal Code by the Baku city Binagadi district prosecutor’s office following the deaths of four employees of the ‘Lake Hotel.’ The employees, Javidan Muradli, Emil Guliyev, Eltaj Aliyev, and Akbar Zeynalov, were fatally electrocuted while working on November 21, as reported by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office to APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the investigation included a detailed inspection of the scene with a prosecutor-criminalist and a relevant expert. Material evidence was collected, and numerous investigative actions were performed, along with expert examinations.

Evidence has led to reasonable suspicions that Aghasif Verdiyev, the lessee of ‘Lake Hotel,’ violated technical safety and labor protection rules. This was during the planning and execution of work in the electrical network protection zone, contrary to regulations approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Aghasif Verdiyev was detained as a suspect on November 21 by the district prosecutor’s office. By November 22, Verdiyev was formally charged under Article 162.3 of the Criminal Code. The Baku city Binagadi District Court decided on a pre-trial detention measure for him.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing, with investigative and operational-search measures being carried out to identify and hold all responsible persons accountable. Further information will be provided to the public as the investigation progresses.
