Baku: A public hearing on “secure and dignified return to Western Azerbaijan” was held in the Milli Majlis (Parliament), APA reports. During the event, the Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Aziz Alakbarli, highlighted the outcomes of the 44-day Patriotic War. He emphasized that the war not only ended the Armenian occupation but also paved the way for the return of compatriots who had previously been deported from Armenia to their ancestral lands.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Aziz Alakbarli underscored the importance of a structured approach to this repatriation process. He recalled President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to the West Azerbaijan Community building, where the president stressed that the return of the displaced should be planned rather than spontaneous.
The hearing also referenced the UN Refugee Status Convention as a key document supporting Azerbaijan’s stance on this matter. Furthermore, it was noted that the return of deported individuals from Western Azerbaijan is considered a q
uestion of national morality. The event progressed with further speeches from various participants.
