BAKU: During a significant interregional forum in Kokand, Uzbekistan’s Fergana region and Hungary’s Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County have formalized their cooperation by signing a pivotal agreement. The ceremony marked a new chapter in collaborative efforts between the two regions, focusing on various sectors including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and banking.

According to Trend News Agency, the agreement was inked in the presence of key figures such as Akram Aliyev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, and Imre Hubai, President of Hungary’s Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. The event also saw participation from leaders and representatives of regional administrations, ministries, departments, and business circles from both countries, highlighting the broad spectrum of interest and potential for mutual benefits.

The forum not only celebrated the signing but also set the stage for future engagements, with plans already underway for a business mission from the Fergana region to visit Hungary
in the first half of 2025. This initiative aligns with the recent discussions between Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who met at the sidelines of an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Azerbaijan’s Shusha city. Both leaders have expressed a keen interest in accelerating cooperation across various fields including industry, logistics, and construction, underscoring the strategic importance of their bilateral relations.

The involvement of prominent Hungarian companies such as Gedeon Richter, Meditop Pharmaceutical, and Bayer Construct Group in collaborative projects illustrates the dynamic and expansive nature of this interregional partnership, promising substantial economic and developmental benefits for both regions.
