Baku: Renewable energy sources accounted for 36.5% of electricity production in Azerbaijan over the past day, the Ministry of Energy told AZERTAC. On April 20, the total electricity generation was 64.4 million kilowatt-hours, with renewable sources contributing significantly to this output.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, of the renewable electricity produced, 15.9 million kilowatt-hours were generated by hydropower plants. Meanwhile, solar and wind power plants contributed 7.6 million kilowatt-hours. Wind and solar energy alone accounted for 12 percent of the total electricity generation in the country.
This substantial contribution from renewable sources highlights Azerbaijan's commitment to diversifying its energy mix and increasing the share of clean energy. The figures reflect ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels and promote sustainable energy practices.
