Aktau: The results of the investigation into the crash of the Embraer-190 passenger aircraft belonging to AZAL near Aktau in December 2024 may be announced after the New Year, RIA Novosti reported, citing Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and head of the State Commission for the investigation of the incident, Kanat Bozumbayev, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Bozumbayev stated, “The standard duration of such investigations is approximately one year, sometimes a bit longer. The relevant work is currently ongoing.” He also mentioned the possibility of a delay in the publication of the final report.

Earlier in August, Bozumbayev had noted that the final report on the crash was expected to be presented within a few months. During this announcement, he highlighted that the aircraft’s avionics module had been sent to the United States for examination.

The crash involved an Embraer 190 aircraft belonging to AZAL, which was operating the Baku-Grozny flight when it crashed near Aktau, a city located in the west of Kazakhstan, in the early morning hours of December 25, 2024. The aircraft had 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board, and tragically, only 29 survived the incident.
