Baku: The closing ceremony of the 42nd World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships was held in Frankfurt, where the World Championships flag was ceremoniously passed on. The German delegation handed over the flag to World Gymnastics, which then passed it to Azerbaijan, marking the country as the next host of the prestigious event.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the flag presentation was part of a symbolic ceremony that confirmed Azerbaijan as the host for the 43rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, scheduled to take place in Baku from September 15 to 19, 2027. This upcoming edition in Baku will also serve as a qualification event for the Olympic Games, following the tradition of the current championships.

The event in Baku will offer gymnasts a chance to secure Olympic berths in both individual and group competitions. This makes it a crucial milestone on the path to the Olympic Games. Consequently, Azerbaijan will play a pivotal role in the world gymnastics scene, acting as both the host of the World Championships and a significant venue for Olympic qualifications.
